Ridley Scott has reduced the run time of his director’s cut of ‘Napoleon’ (but it’s still over four hours)

Ridley Scott has reduced the run time of his director’s cut of “Napoleon” for Apple TV+, but it’s still over four hours, according to Games Radar.

“I’m working on it. It was four [hours] 10 [minutes] this morning,” he said. “And so what will happen is, we’ll screen [the theatrical cut] first with Sony, and then it has its run, and then the perfect thing is that [the director’s cut] goes to streaming, and we have four hours 10 minutes.”

Apple TV+ has posted a trailer for the film. The movie will first be released exclusively in theaters worldwide, in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, on Wednesday, November 22, before streaming globally on Apple TV+.

ABOUT ‘NAPOLEON’

Here’s how the movie is described: Directed by Scott from a screenplay by David Scarpa, “Napoleon” stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French emperor and military leader. The film is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine, played by Vanessa Kirby. The film captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary. An Apple Studios production in conjunction with Scott Free Productions, “Napoleon” is produced by Scott, Kevin Walsh, Mark Huffam and Phoenix, with Michael Pruss and Aidan Elliott serving as executive producers.
