If you do a lot of template-based document creation but find the templates that come with Apple’s Pages is too limiting, check out Publisher Plus from PearlMountain Technology. It’s available for US$19.99 at the Mac App Store in the Graphics & Design category.
Targeted to business and home uses, Publisher Plus packs 170-plus cool-looking templates, including flyers, brochures, business cards, newsletters, adverts, reports, calendars, posters, booklets, etc. Blank templates are available as well. I’ve used the business card template to create business cards on more than one occasion. I tried to do this in Pages, but found the PearlMountain app gave me more options.
You have the ability to create create multiple pages. Publisher Plus’ intuitive interface makes it easy to add images, text, shapes and other objects to documents. You can apply frames, masks, and filers to photos. Publisher Plus allows customization of text font, style, size, and color. Want to create customized calendars? There’s a template for that. It’s also possible to add preset shapes or draw your own using the drawing tool.
In addition, there are a variety of export and share options. Naturally, you can print your masterpieces. However, you can also share ’em via email, Facebook, AirDrop, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr on Mac OS X 10.7 or later.
Publisher Plus isn’t for everyone. If Pages meets all your document creation needs, save yourself 20 bucks. However, if Apple’s own app doesn’t meet those needs, PearlMountain’s software is $20 well spent.
