Notable apps and updates: October 1

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Feral Interactive has announced that Total War: ROME REMASTERED is now available from the Mac App Store for US$29.99, complete with native support for Apple silicon.
Here’s how the game is described: A rebirth of the genre-defining strategy game, ROME REMASTERED comes with an extensive graphical overhaul and improvements to almost every aspect of gameplay. High definition models, textures and visual effects bring the gameworld to life on modern displays, with 4K optimization, ultra-widescreen and UHD resolution setting the stage for empires to rise again. For those playing on the very latest Mac hardware,

Total War: ROME REMASTERED is the first Feral game to take advantage of Apple silicon, with native Apple M1 support an exclusive feature of the Mac App Store version.
Also included are two superb expansion packs which have been given the same remastering treatment as the main game. Recreate history’s most ambitious military campaign in Alexander, or re-write history as marauders encroach on the gates of Rome in Barbarian Invasion.

MacXDVD Software has upgraded its MacX DVD Ripper Pro, MacX Video Converter Pro, and MacX MediaTrans apps, adding support for iPhone 13 models.

MacX DVD Ripper Pro helps users digitize and back up DVDs for playing on iPhone 13, iPad, HDTVs, and more. MacX Video Converter Pro can convert HD/4K/8K UHD videos to iPhone iPad, supporting 400  video and audio formats. MacX MediaTrans offers a way to transfer, back up, and manage iPhone data.

MacXDVD Software now offers MacX Media Management Bundle covering DVD Ripper Pro, Video Converter Pro, MediaTrans, and 5KPlayer, marked down to $129.95. Customers can get the bundle deals at the MacXDVD Special Offer online.

Apple has updated Safari Technology Preview. The upgrade includes bug fixes and performance improvements for CSS, CSS Cascade Layers, CSS Font Loading API, Accessibility, JavaScript, Web API, WebRTC, Media, WebGL, and Web and App Extensions.

Safari Technology Preview offers a sneak peek at upcoming web technologies in macOS and iOS. You can experiment with these technologies in your websites and extensions. Safari Technology Preview is a standalone app that works side-by-side with the current version of Safari, so you can continue to use and reference the current release.
