Notable apps and updates: March 23

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Squirrels has released Reflector 4, an update of its US$17.99 screen mirroring and media streaming receiver application for Mac and Windows that wirelessly receives content from AirPlay, Google Cast and Miracast devices. 

The new version is compatible with the new Apple M1 chip. It also 

adds frames for the latest devices including the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 mini and new iPad models to offer a more customizable mirroring experience.  

While mirroring to Reflector 4, users can overlay a device frame on the mirrored content to match the look of their device. The update also introduces a new modern user interface that better complements macOS Big Sur and features a number of usability improvements. 

Dirk Stichling has announced myTracks 4.0, an update to his popular photo geotagging app.

Also available for iOS and iPad OS, it’s an integrated GPS organization solution for both platforms. Version 4.0 brings a redesigned user interface, a new “Time Line” feature that shows all tracks hierarchically structured by year, month and day, and native Apple Silicon support for Apple’s latest M1 Macs.

myTracks 4.0 requires macOS 10.13 or later. It costs $17.99 and is available at the Mac App Store in the Travel category. myTracks – The GPS-Logger” for iOS is also available for free through the App Store.

iOS

LITE Games has teamed up with the NGO Viva con Agua and created an exclusive theme bundle for Minesweeper World.

The game allows you to challenge friends to beat your best time. In Minesweeper World you can choose different themes and give the game your own look, as well as customize its rules and controls.

It’s free (with in-app purchases). It requires iOS  or iPadOS 11.0 or higher. 

Vweeter Limited has rolled out Vweeter – Voice Forum 2.1.4, an update to their audio-based social networking app for iOS devices. 

With it, users can record audio “vweets,” allowing them to talk or sing to other users around the world via the service’s streaming server. The app allows users to get conversations started, communicating with and making new friends. Version 2.1.4 fixes Facebook login issues.

Vweeter – Voice Forum 2.1.4 requires iOS or iPadOS 13 or later. It’s free, though it does offer in-app purchases.
