Notable apps and updates: June 10

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Vitalii Vashchenko has released Media Sync Tool, a new syncing tool for Apple Final Cut Pro. With it, video editors can reportedly “fully eliminate the time-consuming routine of manually syncing media.”

By utilizing jam-synced SPTE timecode and metadata from source media, this utility automates the sync process. It automatically deals with overlapped timecode.

Media Sync Tool requires macOS 13.2 and Final Cut Pro. It’s offered as a subscription-based app with a 1-week free trial.Media Sync tool is available worldwide at the Mac App Store in the Photo & Video category.

iOS

athenahealth, a provider of network-enabled software and services for medical groups and health systems nationwide, says that with iOS 15, customers in the U.S. can offer their patients the option to share important everyday health information stored in the Apple Health app directly with their providers.

Beginning this fall, patients at participating healthcare institutions will be able to share certain types of data in a secure and private way. When patients choose to share data from the Health app, their healthcare team will be able to view the shared data in a web-based dashboard in the doctor’s own EHR system, within the patient’s chart.

Patients can securely share a range of information stored in the Health app, including data from certain health records categories like lab test results and immunizations, as well as health information from iPhone, Apple Watch, and third-party connected devices, such as activity, heart rate, cycle tracking, sleep, irregular rhythm notifications, falls, and more. Within the dashboard, providers can easily review trends and changes over time.

MEDITECHhas announced that with iOS 15’s availability this fall, their healthcare customers in the U.S. can offer patients the option to share records and other health information stored in the Apple Health app directly with their care providers.

This new feature builds on Health Records on iPhone, which creates a direct connection between healthcare organizations and a patient’s iPhone. Patients can see a central view of their allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures, and vitals directly within the Health app. And beginning this fall, participating organizations can enable patients to share their everyday health information with their physician, empowering patients to determine what data they want to share with selected hospitals and physician practices.

MEDITECH is a privately held Massachusetts-based software and service company that develops and sells information systems for health care organizations.
