Notable apps and updates, Jan. 14-19

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

macOS Apps/Updates

Quark Software has released the December Update for QuarkXPress 2018. With this update, QuarkXPress 2018 adds new features to fully support Indic language typography.

To help customers in India publish in popular Indic languages, QuarkXPress 2018 now integrates with updated Unicode libraries and offers full support to Indic Unicode fonts. QuarkXPress 2018 now also embraces native OS features for keyboard input methods for Indian languages.

It also supports analyzing and reordering characters as per Indic orthographic syllable boundaries; conjunct creation and glyph positioning; Hunspell hyphenation support for 11 Indian languages that offers spell checking and hyphenation methods; text input through keyboard; copy & paste and direct import and more.

Ergonis Software has rolled out KeyCue 9.2, an update of their keyboard shortcut cheat sheet for macOS. The new version enhances the emoji feature of KeyCue 9 and is now also notarized by Apple.

This means that the software has been uploaded to Apple before distribution, and Apple has confirmed that all executables are signed correctly and that the app doesn’t contain malware.

KeyCue 9.2 requires macOS 10.7 or later. The upgrade is free for anyone who purchased a license for KeyQue 8 or KeyCue 9 on or after Oct. 1, 2017. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For new users the cost is $19.99 for a single user license and $29.95 for a family pack.

Koto Games has announced the anniversary edition of Once upon a Dungeon 1.9 for macOS and Windows.

In the $5.99 game, you explore dark dungeons full of dreadful foes. Defeat them using physical power or mighty spells. Meet Slavic gods, discover how to awake them and unleash their power. Craft magic items, collect unique ones, enhance your attributes and face the main antagonist – Fallen One.
