Notable apps and app updates for Oct. 24, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS Apps/Updates

Andrei Doubrovski has released Elements+ 9.0, an update of his enhancement patch for Adobe Photoshop Elements. Featuring hundreds of tools, including missing adjustments, smart filters, vector masks, and more, it is an add-on that unlocks the undocumented advanced functions in Photoshop Elements+ featured in the latest versions of Photoshop.

The kit includes some extra adjustments, smart filters, vector masks, and other advanced tools normally hidden under the hood. Version 9 adds:

  • The ability to re-edit Curves, Color Balance, and other unlocked adjustments;
  • The ability to re-edit Camera RAW photos in ACR converter;
  • Customizable PSE keyboard shortcuts;
  • Customizable PSE menus;
  • Pen and other advanced vector tools;
  • Auto-recovery after PSE crashes;
  • A Script Events Manager.

Elements+ 9.0 requires macOS 10.4.11 or later. It costs US$12.

Zevrix Solutions has announced BatchOutput DOC 2.4.7, a compatibility update to its output automation solution for Microsoft Word on macOS.

BatchOutput automates printing and exporting of multiple documents to PDF, and allows to carry out professional PDF production directly from Word bringing PDF creation options right to the user’s fingertips. The new version makes BatchOutput DOC compatible with the recently released macOS 10.12 Sierra.

BatchOutput DOC can be purchased for US $39.95 from the Zevrix Solutions website, as well as from authorized resellers and the Mac App Store. A demo is available for download. The update is free for users of version 2 and $20 from version 1. BatchOutput DOC requires Mac OS X 10.6-10.12 and Microsoft Word 2008, 2011 or 2016.
