Notable apps and app updates for March 16, 2018

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

704Games has rolled out NASCAR Rush, an endless racer mobile game featuring licensed NASCAR drivers and tracks from the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Players can swipe on smart phones and tablets to pass, draft, pit, and avoid wrecks. NASCAR Rush features three different gameplay modes and collectible virtual cards.

Wahed, a “digital halal-focused ethical investing platform  enabling people to invest ethically wherever they are located,” has launched a free app. With it, individuals can get an optimized and diversified halal portfolio, open an account, securely link their bank accounts to their investment portfolios, quickly access their funds, deposit money into accounts and monitor the performance of their portfolios, all from their iPhones.

macOS Apps/Updates

Paragon Software, has released a new version of Paragon Hard Disk Manager for Mac, software to protect and manage your macOS system. It now provides macOS High Sierra 10.13 and APFS (Apple File System) support.

This utility covers all aspects of Mac’s life cycle from drive partitioning and regular backup to system migration, flexible disaster recovery options, and secure wiping of recycled storage. The new edition allows users to bypass System Integrity Protection (SIP) limitations, so Hard Disk Manager operations are no longer inhibited by it.

Any operation with a system disk can be performed, even when SIP is enabled. The current release doesn’t yet include APFS backup functionality, which is anticipated in the next product update.

Paragon Hard Disk Manager for Mac requires macOS 10.7 or later. It costs $39.95. A demo is available for download.
