Notable apps and app updates for July 20, 2018

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Mokool Sports Games has introduced World Hockey Championships 1.02, the company’s first multiplayer game. It features AI Bots to match the player’s skill level.

The game offers a new set of daily game missions each day, player missions, and over 60 achievements. It can be played online or offline, or in single game mode against the computer. Gamers can choose from among teams spanning 16 countries around the globe. World Hockey Championships is free, but does offer in-app purchases.

Time Tracer Limited has launched Joy Striker 1.03. The free game features 300 game levels and three game varieties. Players can play versus their friends or play versus the world in realtime multiplayer mode. They can also customise striker colors and other game settings, and win trophies (3D art) that they can show and share on social media.

macOS Apps/Updates

Flexibits has updated Fantastical, its calendar app for the Mac, to version 2.5. The upgrade adds requested and features and is a free update for existing users.

Fantastical 2.5 allows you to send and receive new time proposals on Exchange, iCloud, Google, and other CalDAV accounts. When users are sent an invite and need to propose an alternate time, they can simply click the option to propose a new time and a response will be sent to the organizer. The organizer can then quickly accept or reject the suggested changes.

Also included in version 2.5 is full support for Meetup. Simply add a Meetup account and users can find local meetups by viewing and responding to their Meetup events directly in Fantastical.

Fantastical 2.5 also includes support for sending Exchange invitations that don’t require responses from invitees, as well as refinements and improvements that make things faster. Improvements include showing multi-day timed events in the all-day section, changing start dates quickly via the keyboard, and optimized subscription loading.

Fantastical 2.5 requires macOS 10.11 or higher. For new users the cost is $49.99. You can obtain Fantastical 2.5 from the Flexibits Store or the Mac App Store.
