Notable apps and app updates for Jan. 23, 2018

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Lively Mind has debuted Baby Songs and Lullabies, a free collection of 18 lullabies specially designed to help babies and toddlers calm down and fall to sleep. Songs include “Baa Baa Black Sheep,” “London Bridge is Falling Down,” “Three Blind Mice,” and many other classic songs, lullabies, and nursery rhymes for kids. Baby Songs and Lullabies allows parents to set a custom timer for when the music should stop playing.

Tekton Technologies has debuted Swift Miles – Mileage Tracker 1.0. It’s a business expense tracker for business users and employees to claim deductions. Swift Miles provides automatic trip detection, automatic trip classification, mileage logging and actual route maps, with the additional benefit of consuming less battery power. The app is free, but does tout in-app purchases.

macOS Apps/Updates

MacXDVD Software has announced MacX YouTube Downloader 4.1.3, an update to the company’s multimedia application for macOS 10.10 and higher.

Packing the support for resolutions of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels, the free video downloader enables users to harness the exciting capabilities of downloading razor-sharp 4K Ultra HD videos. With version 4.1.3, its download performance and universal compatibility are further complemented by the support of 4K HEVCs, VP9, and H.264 videos.

Zevrix Solutions has released Output Factory Server 2.0.10, a maintenance update to the company’s output workflow automation tool for Adobe InDesign.

Output Factory automates printing and exporting from InDesign by processing files from hot folders. The app can serve unlimited users on a network and offers layer versioning, preflighting, single page export and more. Version 2.0.10 improves custom script integration during multi-format output and addresses some PDF security settings conflicts.

Output Factory Server can be purchased from the Zevrix website for $699.95. A demo is available for download. The upgrade to version 2 is $350 for the licensed users of Output Factory Server 1.x and BatchOutput Server. Output Factory Server requires macOS 10.7-10.13 and Adobe InDesign CS5-CC 2018.
