Nope, there’ll be no foldable iPad (or iPhone) next year

Take this one with a grain of salt, but, according to China’s Economic Daily News, Jeff Lin, a researcher from IHS Markit, says Apple is planning a foldable iPad with 5G that will debut in 2020.

No details were offered, but the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks there’s a slim-to-none chance that this will happen. In fact, I’m dubious that Apple plans a foldable iPhone. The company has filed patents for such designs, but I don’t feel there’s truly much consumer demand for foldable smartphones or tablets.
