News round-up: new Mac Pro is a ‘masterclass in repairability’ (and more)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up of news items you should check out.

The gang at iFixIt, which tears apart tech gadgets and examined their innards, calls the new modular Mac desktop “a masterclass in repairability.” You can find their full teardown of the new Mac Pro here.

Mac threat detections were on the rise in 2019, according to data shared by Malwarebytes, a company that makes anti-malware software for Macs and Windows PCs. 

According to Reuters, a new law in Japan will require tech giants —including Apple, Google, Facebook, and Amazon — to disclose the terms of contracts with customers and to report to the government about their operations, they said.

In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — Cowen equity research says it’s raising its convictions on shares of Apple, boosting its price target behind near-term momentum in several operating segments and a belief that market share losses in China could potentially be offset by gains in India. 

According to MacRumors, Apple plans to open a revamped 10,287-square-foot store at Fairview Mall in Toronto, Canada, nearly twice as large as its existing store in the mall.

On its Developer web page, Apple says it’s now simpler for developers based in China mainland to enroll in the Apple Developer Program.
