News round-up: Award winning photo was taken with an iPhone 6 (and more)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

Friends of the Columbia Gorge, a nonprofit based out of Portland, Oregon, have announced the winners of its fourth annual photo contest. The winning photo (pictured) was taken by Colleen Wright of Lake Oswego in Oregon using an iPhone 6. 

Well, darn it. New research from the University of Glasgow and the University of Oslo finds that despite a sharp drop in the use of plastics in music production over the last two decades, the “storing and transmitting” of digital music files has actually led to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) by the industry.

As noted by 9to5Mac, Apple has tweaked the Mac purchasing experience. Starting this month, the company is no longer charging users for Data Migrations with the purchase of a new Mac. Previously, Apple charged $99 for this service.
