News round-up: Apple offers 10% bonus if you add credit to Apple ID (and more)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out.

As noted by 9to5Mac, now through May 10, Apple is offering an extra 10% bonus when adding funds to your Apple ID. This offer is valid on additions up to $200, delivering an additional $20 for free if you go with the maximum amount.

Apple design guru Jony Ive is set to speak at the Dalkey Book Festival in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, June 15, at 6 p.m. Joining him will be Stephen Fry, an actor, comedian, and author. 

An article by Bloomberg claims that current and former employees at Apple retail stores say brand building became more important than serving shoppers.

Apple is facing a second class action complaint targeting the so-called “Loop Disease” audio chip issue, a problem known to manifest in some iPhone 7 units after prolonged use, according to AppleInsider. 

Apple is promoting its Trade In program on its YouTube channel. The video says that trading in your iPhone is an easy way to do your part for the planet.

Apple has released the fifth developer betas of macOS 10.14.5, iOS 12.3, tvOS 12.3,  and watchOS 5.2.1. Registered developers can download the betas via Apple’s developer portal. Or they can be downloaded over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.
