News round-up: Analyst says some 2020 iPhones will pack 6GB of RAM (and more)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

In a note to clients — as noted by MacRumors.com — Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis predicts the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will likely have 6GB of RAM, up from 4GB in the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. They also expect both models to feature rear-facing 3D sensing and mmWave support for higher-performance 5G.

Starting in July 2020, Russia will ban iPhones and electronic devices that don’t come pre-loaded with local apps, according to BBC News

The Federal Circuit set aside VirnetX’s $600 million award in its long-running infringement fight with Apple over network security patents, finding the iPhone maker did not infringe certain patents involved in the dispute, according to Law360 (a subscription is required to read the entire article).

According to Variety, Apple is delaying the theatrical release of The Banker, originally set for Dec. 6 with assistance from Bleecker Street, insiders familiar with the company said.It’s being delayed as the filmmakers review accusations of historical inaccuracy and sexual abuse at the hands of co-producer Bernard Garrett Jr. The film was also set to premiere on Apple TV Plus in January, which is also being postponed due to the theatrical release’s delay.
