News items you should check out: July 15

Since I can’t cover everything, I’ll often direct your attention to articles of interest. To wit:

° From The Guardian. A UK new amendment has been put forward, which would create an obligation to detect CSAM even in end-to-end encrypted messages in apps such as Apple’s Messages.

° From MacRumors: Apple has continued with the launch of its annual “Back to School” promotion, debuting back to school deals in most countries in Europe, some countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Mexico.

° From The Mac Observer: Reviews for the new M2 MacBook Air are arriving, and it appears the base model has the same SSD decisions as the base M2 MacBook Pro.

° From Sina Finance: Apple expects the iPhone 14 to be a bigger seller than the iPhone 13.

° From MarketWatch: Cautious consumers, macroeconomic worries and continued supply chain bottlenecks are going to work against Apple Inc. in the near term, but don’t give up on shares now.

° From Reuters: Apple manufacturing partner TSMC has forecast revenue growth that could be the highest in 10 quarters, saying it was “highly confident” about its long-term prospects and touted demand for high-tech chips used in data centers and electric vehicles.

° From MacVoices Live!: MacVoices Live! was back after a one-week holiday hiatus with the panel of Chuck Joiner, David Ginsburg, Warren Sklar, Jim Rea, Mark Fuccio, and Mike Potter. The group started out sharing their impressions (and purchases) from Amazon Prime Day, then turned to a review of the details and a last minute update on the upcoming Macstock Conference & Expo (Part 1)
