News items you should check out: Dec. 28

Since I can’t cover everything, I’ll often direct your attention to articles from various other sources worth your time.

° From Apple’s YouTube page: The tech giant has posted = videos with instructions on how to use the 3x optical zoom and advanced low light video with an iPhone 13 Pro.

° From Reuters: A Foxconn iPhone factory in India at the centre of a mass food-poisoning incident will extend a week-long closure by an extra three days.

° From 9to5Mac: iPhone 13 users are still waiting for Apple to address lack of noise cancellation for phone calls.

° From Gizmodo: Apple’s App Store payment policy was just dealt another blow in the Netherlands, where the Authority for Consumers and Markets, or ACM, the country’s top competition regulator, determined the rules violated Dutch competition law by not allowing dating apps to offer users alternative payment options.

° From Politico: From a Ford announcement: While the Apple Car looks like an exciting new technology, a less charitable view of Apple’s strategy is the company wants to further enmesh consumers into their profitable ecosystem, where the company gets a 30 percent cut of all digital sales.

° From MacVoices!: On the new episode, the MacVoices Live! Holiday Party continues as David Ginsburg, Frank Petrie, Jeff Gamet, Kelly Guimont and Jim Rea are joined by Mark Fuccio and Brittany Smith to continue the discussion of digital identification and the intersection of privacy, convenience, and tracking.
