NAB 2017: Apple announces 2 million users of Final Cut Pro X

Final Cut Pro X first made it to the Mac about five and a half years ago to a largely negative user base. Those who complained about the removal of core features from version 7 and the addition of a completely redesigned user interface apparently got over their initial distates for the app, as it was announced at NAB 2017 that the app now has two million users.

Richard Taylor, host of a series of Final Cut Pro X videos on YouTube, caught the announcement on video:

Of interest in the announcement was word that it took less time for Final Cut Pro X to grow from 1 to 2 million users than it took to capture the first million. That indicates a growing acceptance of the tool in the video editing field as well as a larger user base for the pro app. The addition of many third-party plugins for Final Cut Pro X as well as acceptance of the revised UI after over five years has made the app a leader in the professional non-linear video editing market.
