Move your Beats Music membership to Apple Music

Apple Music and Beats 1 are live. Beats Music customers like me have the chance to migrate their accounts over to Apple Music, keeping their library and playlists intact. The process is ridiculously easy. Here’s how to migrate your Beats Music account to Apple Music and give the new service a try.

Install iOS 8.4

This update brings Apple Music and Beats 1 to your iPhone or iPad, replacing Apple’s Music app with an all-new version that’s ready for the new services. Once that’s done, it’s time to update the Beats Music app.

Update the Beats Music app to the latest version

Launch the App Store on your mobile device, tap update and download Beats Music 2.3.3. This update lets you move your playlists, preferred artists and music to Apple Music.

Launch the new Apple Music app

Once both updates are complete, launch the app on your iOS device. You’ll be greeted with a new message.

Since this how-to is about moving an existing account, tap “Beats Music Subscriber?” at the bottom of the screen.

The updated Apple Music app launches, presenting you with the screen below. Here comes the last step. Ready?

Tap “Get Started.”

That’s it. All of the music, playlists and and artist preferences you created while using Beats Music. Explore the new app and have fun.

What if I want to keep using Beats Music?

You may…for a limited time. Apple’s Eddy Cue has said that Beats Music will continue to exist for a couple of months, but its days are certainly numbered.
