mophie’s power station XXL is a fine traveling companion

Last month mophie rolled out a new line of universal batteries for everyday portable power. Available in four capacities, the powerstationpowerstation minipowerstation XL, and powerstation XXL, each features multiple charging ports, including a shared USB-C input and output port. I’ve had a chance to review the most powerful of the three and have found the XXL to be a handy accessory for those frequently on-the-go.

The 2019 mophie powerstation line packs a shared USB-C input and output port that can be used to charge the powerstation battery, or charge a connected device. In addition, the powerstation mini and powerstation have an additional USB-A port, while the powerstation XL and powerstation XXL have two additional ports for charging multiple smartphones, tablet and other compatible devices simultaneously. A four-light LED power indicator displays the charging status and current battery life.

The mophie powerstation line has a fabric finish. That sounds like it would tear easily, but so far it’s proved relatively rugged as I lug it about in my backpack. It  protects the body of the battery from scratches, while feeling comfortable to the touch.

The powerstation XXL offers 20,000mAh of juice, providing up to 73 hours of total device use time. It’s available in black only at mophie.com and is relatively compact (3.05 x 6.26 x 0.91 inches.

Whether you’re taking a business trip or going on vacation, the XXL is a great traveling buddy. It gives you more than three days of juice. Its two USB ports allow you and a friend or family member to both charge up simultaneously. And, as mentioned, the USB-C port is both input and output so you can use it to charge the powerstation as well as your other gadgets.
