M. Night Shyamalan to produce a TV series for Apple

According to Variety, Apple has given a straight-to-series order for a psychological thriller written by Tony Basgallop, who has written for a variety of TV shows such as 24:Legacy and Hotel Babylon, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan (pictured), known for movies like Sixth Sense, Signs, Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, The Village, The Visit, and Split.

Plot details for the series are being kept under wraps. The half-hour series has received a 10-episode order, with Shyamalan also set to direct the first episode.

The series will be produced by Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures with Ashwin Rajan serving as executive producer. Jason Blumenthal, Todd Black and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists will also executive produce, with Taylor Latham co-executive producing.

This will be Apple’s 10th scripted pickup. Upcoming original programming titles include Amazing Stores, Are You Sleeping, Home, Little America, See, Swagger, an untitled Damien Chazelle drama, an untitled Reese Witherspoon/Jennifer Anniston dreamed, and an untitled Ronald D. Moore drama.
