Look for Mac Pro, Pro Display XDR details tomorrow (and maybe info on a 16-inch MacBook Pro)

The 2019 Final Cut Pro Creative Summit kicks off tomorrow, so I’m predicting the modular Mac Pro and Apple Pro Display XDR will be available — or at least dates on their availability announced. Also, if the same info isn’t released regarding the rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro, then I think we can safely say that it won’t arrive until spring 2020.

Apple’s new pro desktop — announced in June — boasts workstation-class Xeon processors up to 28 cores, a high-performance memory system with a 1.5TB capacity, eight PCIe expansion slots and a graphics architecture for the most powerful graphics card. It also introduces Apple Afterburner, an accelerator card that enables playback of three streams of 8K ProRes RAW video simultaneously.

The Pro Display XDR features a 32-inch Retina 6K display with P3 wide and 10-bit color, 1,600 nits of peak brightness, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a “superwide” viewing angle.

Pricing for the Mac Pro starts at $5,999. Pricing for the Pro Display XDR starts at $4,999.

The Final Cut Pro Creative Summit features three days of sessions, presented by top industry professionals who are well versed in the latest FCPX and Motion softwares, plugins, and editing techniques. Final Cut Pro X is Apple’s post-production video editing software for professionals. Motion is a graphics tool for creating 2D, 3D, and 360-degree titles, transitions, and effects.
