ITC looking into patent infringement claims against Apple by Aqua Connect

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has launched an investigation into allegations of patent infringement by Apple on various devices, reports Reuters.

The commission said in a statement the probe was based on a complaint by Aqua Connect and its subsidiary, Strategic Technology Partners, of Orange, California. The products at issue are certain Macs, iPhones, iPads, iPods, and Apple TVs.

In October Aqua Connect and Strategic Technology Partners sued Apple for allegedly infringing on two patents relating to their remote desktop and terminal server application.

Aqua describes itself as a company that has been delivering “unique remote desktop solutions” for the Mac since 2007.  They say they’re the “innovators of the world’s first Mac Terminal Server and also as the first company to license Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol for Mac OS X Server.”

The ITC is also investigating Qualcomm’s patent infringement claims against Apple. In January, Apple filed a lawsuit against the world’s dominant supplier of baseband processors, alleging the chip supplier demanded unfair terms for its technology. However, Qualcomm denied the allegations and counter-sued.
