Despite some early hiccups, iOS 9 has rebounded strongly. According to Mixpanel’s data, it’s already nearing 12% adoption, less than 24 hours after its debut. (Mixpanel is an analytics platform for mobile and web devices.)
According to founder and CEO, Suhail Doshi, that’s faster than iOS 8. He thinks one of the big reasons is the download size. iOS 9 is 3.5x smaller than iOS 8.
“One huge advantage Apple got right this year over last year was that the update is much smaller than last year,” says Doshi. “Apple has empathy for its users who have nearly maxed out the space on their phones. However, one issue for it being substantially slow compared to iOS 7 is that servers are having trouble keeping up right now as people update.”
