Inventec expanding its capacity to met AirPod demand

Apple CEO Tim Cook has called the AirPods a “runaway success,” and maybe he’s not exaggerating. Apple is seeing strong demand for the wireless earpieces during the year-end holidays and its strong sales are expected to benefit the device’s manufacturer Inventec, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report (as noted by DigiTimes).

The article says Inventec —  a Taiwan-based manner of mobile devices, notebook computers, and servers — has recently started expanding capacity at its Shanghai plants in order to satisfy increasing demand for the earphones and the plants are currently working overtime to deliver orders.

AirPods are wireless headphones that allow users to listen to music, make phone calls, enjoy TV shows and movies, play games and interact with Siri. Apple says that advanced sensors know when you are listening and automatically play and pause your music. Using Siri, AirPods allow you to access the “personal assistant” with a double tap.

The wireless headphones, including a charging case, will cost $159. AirPods require Apple devices running iOS 10, watchOS 3 or macOS Sierra.
