How to find your parked car using your iPhone

Did you know you can find your parked car using your iPhone? You can on an iPhone 6 or later thanks to the Maps app.

Maps can drop a parked car marker when you disconnect your iPhone from your car’s Bluetooth or CarPlay system.

Before you begin

  • Turn on Location Services: In the Settings app, tap Privacy & Security > Location Services. Then turn on Location Services.
  • Turn on Significant Locations: In the Settings app, tap Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services. Then turn on Significant Locations.

Turn on Show Parked Location in Maps

  1. In the Settings app, tap Maps.
  2. Scroll to Show Parked Location and turn the feature on.

Receive notifications about your parked car

  1. In the Settings app, tap Notifications.
  2. Tap Maps.
  3. Turn on Allow Notifications and select the type of alerts that you want to receive.

Get directions to your parked car

  • In Maps, search for Parked Car. Choose Parked Car from the results to view the location, edit the location, or add notes. Tap Directions to then route to your car.
  • On your Home Screen, tap the Search field. Tap Parked Car below the Siri Suggestions to get directions to your car.

(This how-to is based on my experiences and info on Apple’s support pages.)
