With macOS Mojave, Apple has added support for favicons in Safari tabs. Favicons are those little icons that let you quickly identify which of your open tabs is which.
Want to try it? With the web browser selected, tap on Safari in the menu bar, and then Preferences.
Select Tabs from the list.
Select “Show website icons in tabs” and that does it.
To make the favicons vanish, follow the same actions, then de-select “Show website icons in tabs.”
