In a note to clients GBH Insights says it expects Apple’s 2018 iPhones to sell up to 350 million units in the next 12 to 18 months.
Analyst Daniel Ives, an analyst at the research group, says many existing iPhone owners didn’t upgrade last year since the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were similar to earlier models and the X was too expensive for many users. He adds that China is a significant opportunity for Apple with about 100 million iPhone customers — and around 60 million to 70 million due for an upgrade over the next 18 months.
It’s anticipated that this year’s Apple smartphones will ship in 5.8- and 6.5-inch sizes in OLED, with a lower-priced ($700-$800) 6.1-inch device coming, as well.
