Foxconn, the world’s largest iPhone factory in Zhengzhou is running at full speed in anticipation of strong demand for the new iPhone 12, reports the South China Morning Post.
Employee Wang Guofeng said overtime work had increased since summer and most workers were allowed to take only four days off per month. Another employee told the South China Morning Post that the company had started night shifts, with production lines running 24 hours a day.
The common thought is that Apple’s next smartphone will be unveiled on Oct. 13 and go on sale Oct. 23 in some markets. The rumor leaker known as “L0vetodream” says the iPhone 12 models will be titled “iPhone 12 mini,” “iPhone 12,” “iPhone 12 Pro,” and “iPhone 12 Pro Max.” According to L0vetodream, the 5.4-inch model is the iPhone 12 mini, the 6.7-inch model is the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the two 6.1-inch models being the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
Another leaker Jon Prosser tweets that Apple’s first shipment of final iPhone 12 units is going out to distributers on Oct. 5. He says the shipment includes the iPhone 12 mini 5.4 (“definitely the final marketing name) in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB versions and the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB models.
The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max aren’t expected to ship until November.
