Epson intros 3 new commercial document scanners

Many AWT readers own Epson printers; the company has been supplying printers to the Apple world since the early 80’s, and now most people are familiar with their all-in-one printer/scanner devices. But the company is well-known in the commercial document scanner market as well, today releasing three new models for office environments. The Epson WorkForce DS-780N ($1,099), DS-770 ($999) and DS-575W ($449) can provide up to 5,000 sheets per day duty cycle (4,000 for the DS-575W), up to 45 page per minute scanning speeds (35 ppm for the DS-575W), and have large automatic document feeder capacities (100 pages, 50 for the DS-575W).

The scanner line provides the capability of scanning to online storage accounts or searchable PDFs, with Evernote, SharePoint and Google Drive included as storage providers. The searchable PDFs are created with the help of OCR software included with the scanner.

Each scanner can crop documents automatically, correct for skew, and remove blank pages. They’re not limited to just regular documents; business and ID cards can be scanned, as well as single sheets and folder pages up to 11 x 17 inches in size.

The top of the line DS-780N  provides excellent network security and document management for markets like insurance, legal, healthcare and finance. User authentication controls who can use the scanner, and the DS-780N can define where documents are stored, and how they’re encrypted and named.

All three of the new scanners arrive at distributors, VARs, e-tailers, and the Epson online store in June. Each has a three-year limited warranty, and under the warranty users can have a replacement device sent to them next business day if they call the company by 3 PM EST.
