Chinese developers file complaint about Apple’s ‘unreasonable’ 4.3 Review Guideline

On Aug. 8, Daxiao, a Chinese law firm, lodged a complaint with the Chinese government about Apple removing apps from its App Store without a detailed explanation of its unreasonable 4.3 Review Guideline. There are more than 31 developers complaining about Apple’s “unreasonable” 4.3 App Store Review Guideline, says Xu Yun, a lawyer at the Chinese Fair-In law firm.

“We have formally filed this complaint with China’s State Administration for Industry and Commerce and hope it can be resolved soon,” he adds.

Yun says Apple’s 4.3 Review Guideline “is vague and subjective depending on how each Apple reviewer feels.” The application of this guideline is also “erratic and random,” he adds.

The Review Guideline can ban apps created from a commercialized template or app generation service. The revised guidelines are supposed to help Apple manage spam apps that are designed with templates to quickly get programs into the App Store that serve ads or perform unnecessary functions for developer financial gain.
