In 2015, Apple announced that it planned to build its first two data centers in Europe to host iCloud, iTunes and other online services. Located in Ireland and Denmark, these facilities will be powered by 100% renewable energy. Now those plans have partially changed.
Danish newspaper Viborg Stifts Folkeblad — as noted by AppleInsider — reports that part of Apple’s $1.8 billion investment in European data centers has stopped because of issues with the main contractor, Exit. Craftsman have been sent home. “The Irish main contractor has not been able to deliver the construction to the agreed deadlines,” the article adds.
