Argus Insights: Apple’s third quarter bounty grew (but not like last year’s)

In time for the Apple earnings report coming next week, Argus Insights has released its analysis of how Apple did with this September’s iPhone launch as compared to the launch a year ago. While Apple’s Q3 demand is up year over year, this improvement has fallen greatly since the nearly 150% demand growth that corresponded with the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus last year, according to the research group.

Argus Insights CEO John Feland asserts the company’s third quarter (Q3) earnings will be positive due to increased demand across segments like smartphones, tablets, and wearables, but says this growth will not be as extreme as past quarters with big handset launches, namely Q4 2014.

Consumer demand for Apple’s anthology of products has increased year over year promising a positive quarterly earnings announcement next week on Tuesday. While Apple’s Q3 demand has grown about 40% percent year over year, this improvement has fallen greatly since the nearly 150 percent demand growth that corresponded with the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in September 2014. The recent 6S launch is shaping up to be nothing short of a success, but Apple is used to smartphone market conquests, and the 6S line is falling short(er) than the iPhone 6), according to Argus Insights.
