Apple’s iPhone SE is being assembled in India

Apple told The Times of India that the iPhone SE is being assembled in India. In a statement the tech giant said: “iPhone SE packs our most powerful chip into our most popular chip into our most popular size at our most affordable price, and we’re excited to be making it in India for our local customers.”

The iPhone SE was launched on April 15  in India and comes at a starting price of Rs 42,990, making it the lease expensive Apple smartphone available in the country. The Times of India says that assembly of the iPhone SE is now underway and the units assembled in India are expected to hit the market “really soon.”

Apple has signed up Wistron to assemble the new iPhone SEs after the Taiwanese firm started to produce the model in India in May, targeting markets around the world. The tech giant has reportedly set its sights on the growing Indian market by pushing for shipments of the smartphone model with the goal of doubling the iPhone’s market share in the country.
