Apple will repair products damaged by floods in Japan

The Japanese site Macotakara — as noted by 9to5Mac — says that, in a support article, Apple announced that it will repair any iPhones, Macs, iPads, and iPods that were directly damaged by the floods that swept through Japan this month. Normally, the company’s repair policies don’t cover water damage.

Landslides and flooding caused by torrential rain in Japan have killed 200 people in what has become one of the deadliest natural disasters to hit the country since the earthquake and tsunami of 2011. Making matters worse, a typhoon is on track to batter parts of western Japan that were hit earlier this month flooding and landslides. Typhoon Jongdari is currently packing winds of nearly 200 kilometres (125 miles) an hour and is forecast to hit the country’s main island on Saturday night, Japan’s Meteorological Agency said.
