Apple will open its Battersea Power Station campus in London early next year

As noted by MacRumors, Apple will open its London office space in Battersea Power Station early next year, Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted today after a visit to the all-new campus.

From his tweet: We can’t wait to open our new offices in the iconic Battersea Power Station for so many of our team members in London early next year. It’s a tribute to this incredible city and a reflection of our commitment to Apple’s future in the UK.

In 2016 Apple announced plans to build a “spectacular” new campus at the Battersea Power Station. The tech giant will move 1,400 staff from eight sites around London into “a new Apple campus” at the Grade II listed former electricity generator, the article adds. The employees will occupy all six floors of office space in the brick “cathedral of power”, which is being “painstakingly restored after 33 years standing derelict on the banks of the Thames,” reported the Evening Standard.

Apple is leasing a total of 500,000 square feet, making this one of the biggest single office deals signed in London outside the City and Docklands in the past 20 years. The company has 2,530 staff in London, including about 1,100 working in its retail stores.
