Apple Watch Series 4 may have 384×480 resolution

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that the 2018 Apple Watch will have a 15% bigger screen. There’s mounting evidence that he’s right. He doesn’t say exactly how this will be accomplished or if the updated smartwatch will pack a bigger chassis. Currently, Apple Watches come in 38mm or 42mm sizes.

The gang at 9to5Mac have gotten their hands on marketing images for the upcoming Apple Watch Series 4, which is likely to debut at next Wednesday’s “Gather Round” event.

9to5Mac says: “We believe, from looking at some information found on the latest watchOS 5 beta, that the resolution will be 384×480. For comparison, the resolution on the current 42mm Apple Watch Series 3 is 312×390. Apple is going to achieve this significantly higher resolution by reducing the size of the bezels and making the screen a little bit larger. This new device will also probably feature a higher PPI, which also contributes to the higher resolution.”

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) can’t imagine an Apple smart watch with a screen that’s much bigger than the 42mm model. However, it could incorporate a 46.mm case with a 400 x 400 resolution such as the Movado Connect.
