Apple Watch not likely to add blood-pressure monitor this year

Apple’s plan to add a blood-pressure monitor to the Apple Watch has hit “some snags,” so the tech isn’t expected to be ready until 2024 at the earliest, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

He says that the tech giant has teams working on an updated sensor and software for the smartwatch that would determine if a user has high blood pressure, but accuracy has been a challenge during testing. Gurman adds that Apple  also has teams working to add noninvasive blood sugar monitoring to the Apple Watch, but that tech, too, is still “several years away.”

So what can we expect in the Apple Watch Series 9and watchOS 9? New women’s health, sleep, fitness and medication management features, and possibly a body temperature sensor, Gurman says. He also thinks we’ll see a new power-saving mode that will let users use the smartwatch without taking up a significant amount of battery life.
