Apple updates its WWDC app for iOS and tvOS, announces ‘Podcast Studio’ sessions

Apple has updated its free WWDC app for iOS and tvOS to version 6.0. It allows you to follow along with developments at the Worldwide Developer Conference.

Because the WWDC app experience extends to Apple Watch, favorite session information is available on the Apple smartwatch. It allows you to:

  • Watch live streamed sessions on iOS and tvOS.
  • Stream or download WWDC videos from this year and previous years.
  • Start watching on one iOS device, and pick up where you left off on another iOS device or on Apple TV.
  • Browse times, locations, and descriptions for sessions, labs, and special events.
  • Mark schedule items as favorites.
  • Keep up with the latest news, get important notifications, and see new photos throughout each day.
  • Use indoor location to find your way around San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
  • Provide feedback on content and speakers for each session.
  • Add your pass to Wallet for faster check-in at WWDC.

Version 6.0 adds the ability to:

Watch curated video playlists focused on featured themes.

View interactive venue and street maps.

See important venue information in the new Venue tab.

Use all app features without signing in.

The 28th annual WWDC will be held at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. The conference will run June 5-9 and will focus on the latest versions of macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

With the schedule announced, note that it includes a new “Podcast Studio.” Starting on Tuesday, June 6, podcasters will be able to reserve one hour slots and record in a specially-made recording studio inside the McEnery Convention Center. Apple says that the studio allows for the creation of audio podcasts with up to four guests per show. Experts from the company will be on hand to provide support.
