Apple supplier Broadcom predicts good revenue with the debut of new iPhones

Broadcom has forecast current-quarter revenue largely above estimates on higher demand for components that power data centers, while the launch of new iPhones is expected to bolster its wireless business, reports Reuters.

The U.S. wireless and broadband giant expects a ramp at its North American customer (almost certainly Apple) to drive a 25% rise in wireless revenue from the previous quarter, although it may be down in single-digit percentage compared with a year earlier, the article adds. New iPhones will almost certainly debut at next week’s “Gather Round” media event.

Broadcom’s product line spans computer and telecommunication networking: the company has products for enterprise/metropolitan high-speed networks, as well as products for SOHO (small-office, home-office) networks. Products include transceiver and processor ICs for Ethernet and wireless LANs, cable modems, digital subscriber line (DSL), servers, home networking devices (router, switches, port-concentrators) and cell phones. It’s also known for a series of high-speed encryption co-processors.
