Apple registered a year-over-year growth in its Philippines smartphone share in the first quarter of 2023 due to the popularity of the iPhone 14 series, according to Counterpoint Research.
However, smartphone shipments in the country experienced a decline of 9% year-over-year during the according to the research group. The decline was driven by high inflation during the quarter, which impacted consumer sentiment and purchasing power.
During the quarter, realme captured 21% of the market to overtake Samsung as the top brand. The brands which witnessed YoY growth included Infinix (59%), Xiaomi (22%) and Apple (22%).
