Apple reportedly wants more OLED display panels for upcoming iPad minis

Apple wants its suppliers to provide more OLED display panels for future iPad minis, reports ZDNET Korea. They might arrive near the end of the year. 

In a Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said ou should’t expect a new iPad mini “until the end of this year at the earliest.”

He thinks the next iPad mini model will feature a newer processor, but few other changes. As for other changes, the seventh-generation iPad mini‘s screen assembly will be rotated to reduce the effect of “jelly scrolling” that some users complain about with the current model, according to Weibo leaker, “Instant Digital” — as noted by MacRumors.

Plaintiff Christopher Bryan filed a class action complaint against Apple on Feb. 9 alleging the iPad Mini is defective as the display is prone to screen tearing. He says this can cause “one side of the screen to look as if it’s responding faster than the other side,” creating the visual disturbance known as “jelly scrolling.” 

Bryan says Apple markets and sells the iPad Mini 6 as a premium tablet with the “weighty price tag” of between $499 and $649. However, he alleges that the iPad Mini is defective as the display is prone to screen tearing which can cause “one side of the screen to look as if it’s responding faster than the other side and creates a visual disturbance called “jelly scrolling.”
