In a new Bloomberg report, Mark Gurman reiterates his previous prediction that Apple is planning an Apple TV set-top box with a stronger gaming focus, an updated remote and a new processor for 2021.
“Those changes will fix some of the Apple TV box’s issues, but the product will need to take another big leap—akin to its 2015 changes—to remain competitive in the long term. Either that or it needs to get a lot cheaper,” he writes.
The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks the set-top box will indeed get a more powerful processor, as well as bigger storage options with a focus on making even more powerful games available on the Apple Arcade gaming service. I also think Apple will introduce its own gamepad that will work with the Apple TV, as well as Macs and iPads.
