Apple reportedly interested in buying Reese Witherspoon’s ‘Hello Sunshine’

Apple is among the parties considering buying Reese Witherspoon’s media company Hello Sunshine, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The company began pursuing a sale in recent months after receiving interest from multiple suitors including Apple, the article adds. “People close to the situation” say the company could be valued at as much $1 billion in a deal.

The WSJ says that Hello Sunshine is working with investment bankers as it explores its options, the people familiar with the matter say. There is no guarantee the company will find a buyer.

Hello Sunshine was founded by Witherspoon and Strand Equity Founder and Managing Partner Seth Rodsky in 2016. Among other productions, it’s the company behind the series “Big Little Lies” and “Little Fires Everywhere.”

Hello Sunshine’s upcoming productions include Amazon’s “Daisy Jones and the Six,” the film adaptation of “Where the Crawdads Sing” and “Luckiest Girl Alive” at Lionsgate/Summit.

In addition to producing content, Hello Sunshine also curates a book club called Reese’s Book Club x Hello Sunshine. Witherspoon announces a new book pick every month on her Instagram and the book club is aimed to bring women’s stories forward. The book club has over 500,000 followers on Instagram, and more than 70,000 followers on Facebook. Hello Sunshine also had a Filmmaker Lab to teach 20 girls aged 13–18 the art of film making.
