In a Q&A session focused on the Apple Car, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman casually mentioned that Apple has just started formal development on the M4 MacBook Pro.
A January report by the Economic Daily said Apple’s product line will be “greatly upgraded,” and the new generation of M4 and A18 processors for terminal devices such as the Mac, iPad, and iPhone will greatly increase the number of built-in AI [artificial intelligence] computing cores. This year, the number of chips cast for TSMC (2330) 3nm enhanced version is expected to increase by more than 50% compared with last year, the article adds.
The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks that the earliest we might see an M4 MacBook Pro is shortly before the 2024 holiday season. According to Gadgetmates, features of the M4 could include:
° Naturally, more cores than the M3, with further improvements in graphics performance and efficiency;
° New features and capabilities for AI and machine learning tasks;
° Further enhancements in areas like dynamic caching, ray tracing, mesh shading, and other performance-boosting technologies.
