Apple Pay now accepted at two out of three U.S. stores

Speaking at NRF 2018 Retail’s Big Show in New York earlier this month, Jennifer Bailey, vice president of Apple Pay, said the company’s mobile payment service is now accepted by two out of three U.S. stores, reports AppleInsider.

For comparison, Apple Pay was limited to about 3% of stores in the U.S. when it launched in 2014. Led by the iPhone, mobile is doing more to revolutionize e-commerce than any other platform, Bailey said. Purchases made on smartphones and tablets account for 25% of e-commerce transactions in the U.S. The rate of growth for mobile transactions is four times that of desktop, and 10 times that of traditional brick and mortar retail, Bailey said.

Apple Pay is currently available in 20 countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, the U.S., Denmark, Finland, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates.
