As noted by Billboard, Apple has launched the Shazam Discovery Top 50 chart, which will highlight the top 50 songs from emerging artists that are trending in the U.S. and 10 other countries.
Apple says there are more than 20 million “Shazams” every day and the company will use that data to predict the artists it thinks will be next to break through to Shazam’s more mainstream charts and into the public consciousness. Shazam Discovery Top 50, which will update every Tuesday, will incorporate more countries into the chart in the near future and is exclusively available on Apple Music.
In December 2017 it was reported that Apple was acquiring Shazam, the popular music recognition app that’s used by more than 100 million people each month to identify music, get song lyrics, and more. The deal was rumored to have been for about $400 million.
