Apple making ‘substantial’ donation to Protezione Civile in Italy

A tweet from Tim Cook tells how Apple plans to help deal with the coronavirus outbreak in Italy.

“It’s never been more important to support each other. We’re making a substantial donation including medical supplies to Protezione Civile in Italy, to help the heroic first responders, medical personnel & volunteers working tirelessly to protect & save lives.”

The Protezione Civile, officially Dipartimento della Protezione Civile, is the national body in Italy that deals with the prediction, prevention and management of emergency events. Its duties of are to predict, prevent and manage at national level disasters and catastrophes, both natural and human-made.
