Apple looking for new office real estate in Cork, Ireland

Apple — which is Cork, Ireland’s main private employers with 6,000 employees — is in the hunt for “a significant new office presence in the city’s docklands, one capable of holding up to 1,000 staff,” according to the Irish Examiner.

The article says that the tech giant’s search was “very active” until the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Then the Cork offices globally were temporarily abandoned and the Apple search in the city was put on hold.

With most folks still working at home, there’s no prediction on when the hunt for new real estate will restart. However, the Irish Examiner says “informed business sources” indicate that Apple had a live office need inquiry for Cork for up to or over 100,000 square feet coming into 2020/2021.

The story of Apple in Ireland began in 1980 with a single manufacturing facility and 60 employees. Cork also serves as the company’s European headquarters, supporting customers across the continent and beyond.
