Apple is granted a patent for … a chair?

Perhaps some AWT readers can help me figure this out: Apple has been granted a patent (D805311) for the “ornamental design for a chair.” But as you can see from the graphic, it’s not like any chair I’ve ever seen.

So what do you think it is? A futuristic sitting device? A new type of toilet? Or something different from what I normally think of a chair?

Of course, Apple files for — and is granted — lots of patents by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Many are for inventions that never see the light of day. However, you never can tell which ones will materialize in a real product.
